Cadmium Sulphide: Precipitated from a Cadmium Salt with an Alkaline Sulphide (Thorpe 1912)

Cadmium sulphide is the yellow chemical behind cadmium yellow, and the light-sensitive material of a photocell. Add an alkaline sulphide to a solution of a cadmium salt and it falls as a yellow powder. Source: Thorpe, Dictionary of Applied Chemistry vol. 1 (1912), Cadmium sulphide. Not given: amounts or which salt. Cadmium sulfate as the salt, sodium sulphide as the sulphide, and the washing and drying are ours. Cadmium compounds are poisonous. Picture drawn by Youblob.
