Mai Ti Paeng (Spiral Whisk) — a Wooden Handle and a Coiled Wire for Beating Batter in a Large Pot

ไม้ตีแป้ง (mai ti paeng) is a household tool made of wood and wire: a wooden handle with, at one end, a long wire bent into a coil, winding from the outside in. It is used for beating batter for sweets in quantity, such as khanom sali and khanom thuai fu, and for beating eggs or ripe fruit such as mango paste. This blueprint makes a mai ti paeng following the source.

History and limits

The large mai ti paeng is used for making sweets in quantity, to sell or for auspicious occasions, such as khanom thuai fu, which the Chinese call "huat kue". We use spring steel wire instead of ordinary wire.
