Saw Handle Rivets with Countersunk Heads
A hand saw blade is fixed in its wooden handle by rivets through both. Hodgson (1883) preferred plain beech handles with the rivets flush or countersunk: lighter, easier to handle, and no heads standing out to dull other saws in the chest. Head short steel rivets with a cone-shaped head in a nail header.
The picture: our diagram, a countersunk rivet and two set through handle and blade.
