Trip-Hammer Helve: an Oak Beam Hewn and Bored for its Pivot
The helve is the wooden beam of a trip hammer: the head sits on one end, the cams lift the other, and it rocks on a pivot between. Hew it from a straight oak log, bore it for the pivot pin, and taper the head end to fit the hammer's eye.
